SUPERFAN - BRANDING + PRODUCT DESIGN
A COMPANY THAT SPECIALIZES IN MANUFACTURING MOTOR SPARE PARTS APPROACHED ME WITH THE GOAL OF LAUNCHING A NEW CEILING FAN. THEIR KEY SELLING POINT WAS THAT IT WOULD HAVE A REMOTE CONTROL AND ENERGY-SAVING CAPABILITIES, BUT THE PRODUCT PROTOTYPE APPEARED GENERIC AND UNINSPIRED. I SUGGESTED THAT WE DESIGN A STYLISH AND SOPHISTICATED FAN THAT STOOD OUT FROM THE COMPETITION. I BEGAN BY DEVELOPING THE PRODUCT, CREATING A BRAND NAME, AND IMPLEMENTING A STRATEGY THAT INCLUDED EYE-CATCHING COLORS, RECYCLED PACKAGING, AND A PLAN TO DIFFERENTIATE THE PRODUCT FROM OTHERS IN THE MARKET. THE BRAND NAME I CHOSE WAS SUPERFAN, WHICH REFLECTED THE FAN'S EXCEPTIONAL DESIGN. SUPERFAN WENT ON TO RECEIVE NUMEROUS INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL AWARDS FOR DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE. IN 2019, THE ELECTRONICS GIANT MURATA OF JAPAN ACQUIRED A STAKE IN THE COMPANY.
